High ambient temperature in summer and risk of stroke or transient ischemic attack: A national study in Israel
2020, Environmental ResearchCitation Excerpt :Another challenge is to identify susceptible individuals and design effective risk communication and preventive measures tailored for each sub-population (McGregor et al., 2015). A third challenge is to raise the awareness and capacity of the health system and health professionals, to prepare and respond to extreme heat (Hajat et al., 2010; Negev and Kovats, 2016). In the current study, we used data on stroke incidence from the Israel National Stroke Registry to assess the relationship of mean temperature and DTR with the incidence of any stroke as well as ischemic stroke/transient ischemic attack (TIA) and hemorrhagic stroke types during the summer season over a 3-year period.
